Anitra T. Zobeck
Anitra Zobeck grew up in a diverse, working class neighborhood in Texas, where immigration issues were common. Aware of numerous inequalities based on class and race, a passion for social justice developed. After living in numerous states over the years, as well as spending a year abroad as an exchange student in Thailand, she eventually found her way to San Francisco.
At Golden Gate University School of Law, Anitra studied law with an emphasis on public interest, criminal defense, and litigation. She interned at Bay Area Legal Aid and the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office; fighting on behalf of indigent clients, and helping them obtain resources. She also clerked for a San Francisco Superior Court Judge, gaining further perspective from both sides of the courtroom as to what makes a successful lawyer.
While in law school, Anitra honed her litigation skills by competing on five Mock Trial teams. In 2009, her team won first place for the San Francisco Region, prevailing against teams from the Boalt, Hastings, and the University of San Francisco. She and her teammates went on to compete at Nationals in Washington, D.C.
Anitra continues to pursue her passion for social justice through the important field of Immigration Law. Her current focus areas are family-based immigration law and deportation/removal defense, adjustment of status, and affirmative and defensive asylum cases.
